How to choose your juicer

How to choose your juicer

This article wasn't on my TO DO list at all, but I know you'll find it useful, so I'll do it. I was chatting with a friend this afternoon, and she was asking me about my juicer. As this is a question I often receive, I'm sharing my advice with you. Many of you don't know which appliance to choose and which criteria to prioritize, so you'll have no excuse to invest in your health.

I've been using juicers for over 15 years. I've made mistakes and often let myself be swayed by advertisements or salesmen in household equipment stores. I'll tell you about it below, but today I own my 5th juicer, the Hurom H320N, and it's the best investment I've ever made for my health. It's sturdier, has a bigger capacity, is versatile and comes with a 15-year warranty, so we love it!

Before going any further, if you don't know me, I'm Hélène, Holistic Traditherapist. I specialize in uterine, intestinal and general health care, and my aim is to sublimate your Being through energies, nutrition, phytotherapy and much more.

What are your health needs?

This question is important if you are to take the right decision about your purchase. Here are a few questions not to be overlooked:

  • How many times a week will I use my extractor?
  • Will I be doing cures or just juicing occasionally?
  • How do I feel today and what is my health goal?
  • Do I have 20 to 30 minutes for each juice run to wash the fruit, make the juice and clean the machine, or is my life timed?

Now that you have these questions in mind, the rest of this article will provide the necessary clarifications.

Small or large capacity?

At my level, I've already had 5 extractors, so we'll talk about quality later. We don't realize how important this question is until we want to make juices on an almost daily basis. We tend to think that a small capacity will suffice for our purposes, that a small container is enough because all we have to do is cut up the vegetables and off we go! But in reality, this is not the case.

One of the hardest things about taking care of your health is sticking with it over the long term. I realized how important it was to limit the friction that could slow me down and put me into procrastination mode in 2 sec.

  • If you live alone, or with no more than two people, and/or don't juice more than once a week or even once a fortnight, get a small juicer. You'll have less friction from having to cut your vegetables into small pieces to make your juice. So preparation time needn't be a worry.
  • If you want to juice several times a week or every week, and there are more than 2 of you, get a larger extractor. By reducing the number of steps involved, you'll enhance the consumer experience and enjoy juicing and taking care of yourself.

Don't tell yourself it's okay to cut your fruit and vegetables into small pieces if you tend to procrastinate. Believe me, after 6 months, you'll be sick of it. Pay attention to your daily life and your health/well-being project to make the best possible purchase.

Juice quality

Why is juice made with an extractor of better quality?

As I've explained many times, today's fruit and vegetables lack vitamins and nutrients due to the quality of the soil, which is becoming poorer. To boost our health and well-being, it's essential to eat raw produce in all its forms, so as to absorb nutrients in their raw state.

Juice extractors have grinder rotations of no more than 60 rpm (80 maximum). This is very important, because unlike centrifuges, they do not heat the food. By grinding food without heating it, you obtain a juice of incomparable nutritional quality.

  • Optimum nutrient preservation: The juicer operates at low speed (between 40 and 80 rpm max), which reduces heat and oxidation. This preserves living enzymes, heat-sensitive vitamins (such as vitamin C and certain B vitamins) and antioxidants.
  • More concentrated and nutritious juice: The result is a denser juice, with less foam and air, and therefore richer in nutrients. There is generally less loss and better juice extraction from fruits and vegetables, even from the leaves.
  • Less oxidation = better storage: Juice made with an extractor can be stored for up to 24 to 48 hours in an airtight container in the fridge. Juices made with a centrifuge should be consumed immediately.
  • Better taste and texture: Flavours are more pronounced, truer to the original, because they are less altered.
  • Suitable for detox cures and therapeutic needs: fasting, detox cures, digestive and hormonal support, etc. Highly therapeutic combinations can be created for all types of care.

Why did I choose the HUROM H320N extractor?

You've got all my advice on how to choose your extractor. Now I'm going to share 4 more reasons why I chose the Huron H320N.

When you want to make juices on a regular basis, I'm repeating myself, but you have to limit friction. What I like about this extractor is that you only have 4/5 parts to clean. Cleaning is quick and easy. It saves me a lot of time, especially with a 2-year-old cat who likes to juice with me.

I cut my fruit and vegetables to a minimum and I A-DO-RE! I make juices several times a week. So you can imagine that if I had to cut my food into small pieces like I used to, I'd spend an awful lot of time doing it. With my old extractor, I made less juice for this reason. I'm short of time, so it's important for me to have a robust extractor that can grind whole or even almost whole foods. The foods I really take the time to cut up are leafy foods. This optimizes extraction and, as they contain less juice, it's a good idea to alternate them with water-rich foods to optimize nutrient extraction.

It may seem trivial, but it's important. I find my extractor very beautiful 🙂 And perfect on my worktop. There aren't 10,000 buttons that serve no purpose, there aren't 30 colors on the same device etc... I really like the aesthetics. Secondly, I told you that I often juice with my son. He puts the food in by himself, closes the lid and turns on the machine without a hitch. It's simple and efficient, so we love it.

I use this extractor so much, and it's such an integral part of my environment, that I contacted Huron Europe to become one of their partners and offer you a promotional code. Thanks to the -10% valid on the whole site and on all current promotions, extractors are becoming a little more accessible, and that's good news!

Fresh juice + Sea moss = perfect combo

I couldn't finish this article without telling you about Sea moss. I'm not going to detail it here because you have several articles on this marvel, but if you want a boost, then don't pass it up.

To increase your intake of nutrients and trace elements, I can only recommend adding 1 to 2 teaspoons of Sea Moss gel to your homemade juice. Doing the right thing for your health means ensuring a better future. Sea moss from Saint Lucia is available in our online store, so don't hesitate to find out what this seaweed can do for you.

So, I've introduced you to my must-haves, and I hope they'll become yours.

I think I've given you all the information you need to choose the right extractor for your situation and needs.

If you have any questions that I haven't answered, don't hesitate to ask me and I'll be happy to answer them.
